Peep's 1967-2011
Inducted on 14th Aug 2006

Peep's Hot Dog Stand was founded by the Stroder family in 1967 and was named after Craig "Peep" Stroder. A neighborhood favorite throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Peep's became a beloved gathering place for generations of local residents. In 1981, ownership transitioned to Sharon and Mel Rossman, who continued Peep's tradition of serving the community. Following Mel's passing, Sharon, who many customers referred to her as Mrs. Peeps, operated the restaurant until its closure in 2011. Today Peeps remains an important chapter in Chicagoland Hot Dog history, remembered fondly by those who gathered there and helped make it a neighborhood institution.
