It’s been 30 years since Vienna Beef took notice of an up-and-coming food service concept in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. That was the original Joey D’s back in 1994. A creation of brothers Bobby and Tommy Dennis, that relocated 10 years later to the up-and-coming southwest coast of Florida. They now have locations in Bradenton, Sarasota, Palmetto and Venice. With their hallmarks of quality and variety, Joey D’s has been well received by customers and critics. Their locations reflect their values by featuring Vienna Beef Hot Dogs, Polish Sausage, Chicago style Pizza, Italian Beef and Philly Cheese Steaks, to name a few of their selections.
The Dennis brothers have won numerous Best of Awards for Hot Dogs, Pizza and Family Restaurants. Along with being family owned and operated, the Dennis brothers attribute much of their success to the 1,000+ employees who have given the business their time and effort over the past 30 years. They have had visits from many celebrities including Gov. Ron Desantis, food critic Andrew Zimmern, and many NHL and NFL players and coaches. They are also proud of being featured in the book ‘Never Put Ketchup on a Hot Dog’, which has filled them with inspiration. The brothers are also heavily involved in community service such as charity golf and Chamber events. Not only that but, Tampa Bay Lightning for kids, high school sporting events, and police and fire department programs.
The checking of all these boxes on the avenue to success has prompted Vienna Beef to induct Joey D’s into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was created to honor great foodservice operators that have developed into neighborhood landmarks. Out of thousands of customers over the years, Vienna Beef has recognized only 154 nationwide since the award was established in 2006. From the entire Vienna Beef family, we recognize and congratulate the group of Joey D’s Chicago Style Eatery & Pizzeria as the 155th recipient.
