Fall Hot Dog Recipes

Hot Dog! Can you believe summer is already over?
While we’ll miss the warm weather and summer sun, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited to start incorporating some of our favorite fall recipes back into our meal plan. But of course, there is one summer food we’re not quite ready to let go of yet -- Hot Dogs! After all, at this point, Hot Dogs are basically their own food group. Below we’ve rounded up some of our favorite ways to dress up our Hot Dogs in the colder weather.
Mac and Cheese Hot Dogs
Yep, you read that right -- Mac and Cheese Hot Dogs. I mean, do food combinations come any dreamier than this? We think not. Just prepare the Vienna Beef Hot Dogs of your choice however you’d like as well as a pot of your favorite Macaroni and Cheese. We recommend a homemade Macaroni and Cheese for this recipe, but a box of your favorite will work just fine! Simply top the Hot Dogs with a scoop (or two, we don’t judge) of Mac and Cheese and voila, you have a childhood favorite dressed up and on a bun. For extra flavor, you can also add some diced White Onion, Vienna Sport Peppers, or Vienna Yellow Mustard.

Mac and Cheese Hot Dogs are becoming so popular that a lot of your favorite stands already offer them on their menu! Check out this dog from The Steamie Weenie in Las Vegas.
Italian-American Hot Dogs
Chicagoans, you’re going to want to avert your eyes for this one! Just kidding. But in all seriousness, if you’re looking for a savory change from your usual Chicago Style Hot Dog, these Italian-American Hot Dogs are it. For the toppings, you just saute some Onion and Bell Peppers and add to the Hot Dog with a few Pepperoncinis or Sport Peppers. These toppings go especially well on our Spicy Smoked Sausage if you like a little bit of heat!
Chili Dogs
You probably saw this one coming, but we can’t help ourselves! Chili Dogs are hands-down our favorite way to transition Hot Dogs from summer to fall. Just like the Mac and Cheese Hot Dogs, the first step in making Chili Dogs is preparing your Hot Dogs. While the Hot Dogs simmer, you should also begin preparing your chili. If you’re feeling up to it, you can prep some homemade Chili in the morning and leave it simmer until it’s time to eat. Or, you can use our Great Northwoods Chili for a taste that can’t be beat! Looking to kick it up a notch? Add a dab of Yellow Mustard, some Cheddar Cheese, or some Sport Peppers for some extra flavor.
