For most of the past six decades, Don Caputo and his sister Eleanor Varelli have owned and operated The Patio, a unique hot dog stand in the heart of Chicago’s Little Italy. Good food and friendly service have been the cornerstone since Eleanor’s late husband John built the Patio back in 1948. In the old days they would shuck clams, bake pizzas, and barbeque sausage over hot coals creating an aroma for the neighborhood to savor. Many of the original customers keep coming back for that taste of “home”. The Patio has truly been a family business creating a love affair for food in a great old neighborhood.
