Whether it’s big day at the ballpark, visiting your favorite stand, or just a simple backyard BBQ’s with friends and family, memories are made with Vienna Beef. Here’s a few hand selected stories…
My husband and I grew up a few blocks from one another in chicago. We attended the same schools from kindergarten through high school; heck, his mom was my art teacher in grade school. Both our families ate at portillo’s every friday night for years. Our paths never once crossed until we serendipitously met one another while studying abroad in vienna, Austria. The rest is hot dogs and history. About a year ago, i gave birth to our first child… a sweet baby girl…. without a doubt in our minds, we took one glance at her and said “vienna.” Attached is a picture of Vienna’s first halloween; as you can see, she is extra beefy, juicy, and obviously chicago-style. Needless to say, vienna beef hot dogs are a family favorite present at every cookout, birthday party, and weekend getaway. For the love of hot dogs, vote for Vienna.
I realize that VIENNA’ S can be used for many other creations other than Chicago STYLED ones, but I am from middle Tennessee and pure 100% beef VIENNA’S are only sold at one location within 50 miles of me (that I have found) and that is Chitown Hotdog 2 counties over. I drive a tow truck 24/7 365 so I stop at a lot of places on the road, good and bad, but hands down my favorite meal is one of your hotdogs! I fight to get my 16 thousand plus pound 35 foot long truck in and out of a crowded strip mall parking lot and when I leave across 5 lanes of crowded traffic just to turn right in 500 feet to head back to my location. I have been enjoying your hotdogs And beef my whole life, my mom use to carry me to get them and I would have to wait until we got home so she could cut them up into small bits because I was 1 year old. I really hope I can win so I’ll be able to enjoy them all the time at home with my family!
I moved to Chicago 3 Years ago and became a bike messenger who needed constant energy boosts, which I found were best satisfied with the juicy Snap of a Vienna beef hotdog topped with the cool crunch of a pickle and the sour twist of mustard and other necessary components. I navigated the city using a mental map whose details I pictured in relation to my favorite grills where I could get a quality dog in each neighborhood. Since I left that job and The home Of The world’s best hot dog I always have my eye open for a Chicago style grill wheRever I am in the country so I can get my fill. I even constructed a model of Chicago using Vienna beef hot dogs and the various ingredients of a classic dog for an art project I did with some friends. I can’t wait for my next hot dog!
Being born and raised in Chicago, Vienna has always been my favorite. Now that I live in border town Texas I can no longer find them. It would be great to win and make me happy and bring back good memories.
I’m a chicago hot dog gal and the one thing I miss living in Florida is a good old fashioned chicago hot dog stand. not anymore with shipping from Vienna beef!!! now I can have that dog I crave any day, anywhere (even on the boat in the gulf of Mexico!) there’s no better hot dog anywhere!!!
I moved to Kansas City after growing up my whole life in northern Illinois. Good Hot dogs are hard to find in KC and it’s nearly impossible to find a decent chicago dog. Every time I visit home, I always make time to stop for one of these delicious beauties. Here is my most recent stop at Wrigley field – I have waited since opening day of the cubs season to sit at Wrigley and drink a cold one and eat a Vienna beef chicago dog. It’s like a rite of passage, it’s the epitome of what home feels like.
I travel a lot for my job in the Chicago and south east Wisconsin area. The only place I will stop in and eat is a advertised Vienna place. I know that the products are top quality. There is only 1 choice for me wether it’s a dog, beef, corn beef or polish it will be great. When do we get to eat next? Now would be fine!
For me, Vienna Beef isn’t just a hot dog, it’s a way of life. My love affair with Vienna Beef started in Orlando, FL when I was just 6 years old. My mom would take me into Hot Dog Heaven, our local hot dog joint, just a 2-minute drive from our house. They served nothing but Vienna Beef products, from the hot dogs and buns, all the way to the mustard, relish, and celery salt! We were poor, no doubt about it, but a trip to Hot Dog Heaven meant we were having a very good week!
I even go so far now as to order my own Vienna Beef hot dogs shipped to my house in central Florida in a cooler and everything! People I’m friends with probably think I’m crazy for my Vienna Beef hot dog obsession, but I don’t care. I’ve enjoyed Vienna Beef hot dogs for 30 out of my 36 years on this planet and I plan on continuing to tell as many people about Vienna Beef as possible in my next 36 years!
Signed, Rebecca Swanson your #1 Fan. #VBhotdogs4eva
When the New York Times failed to recognize Vienna beef as a top ten dog, I let them know. They apologized on twitter. When we travelled to Pittsburgh for the Cubs game, we served up Vienna beef Chicago dogs for the whole tailgate. When the family bbq needs a hot dog hero, I put on the VB hat and vest and serve em up. Vienna beef is the single greatest hot dog on planet earth and I have made it my life’s work to make this fact known. I live in the land of brats – but I make it clear that the Vienna beef hot dog is the king of encased meats.
We are regulars at The Vienna Beef Factory Store in Chicago. We drive in from the ‘burbs to eat at the cafe and stock up on hot dogs, corned beef and Italian beef. It is such a treat to eat a real Vienna Beef hotdog surrounded by other hot dog lovers. It is the only brand we buy! And, as you can see, I wear my Vienna beef Swag proudly!
My family has been eating Vienna beef hot dogs and products all our lives, since the 1950’s. My son and his children love them and will carry on the traditions of great Vienna foods served in our homes and in restaurants all around chicago! So many memories are associated with eating Vienna beef foods over the years! Thank You! Jimmy Moy and family.
Since I was a toddler in a high chair enjoying my first hot dog to my Chicago style hot dog themed 30th birthday party catered by Vienna beef and most proudly, to my wedding’s midnight snack of Vienna beef chicago style hot dogs, I am 100%, without a doubt, Vienna beef’s #1 fan! Every single time I enjoy a Vienna beef hot dog, I’m reminded of all the amazing times with my wife, family, friends, and city.
They are simply the best! The snap, the juice, and of course the exhale afterwards… lol! I have been a Vienna gal from the beginning. Mom cut them up into scrambled eggs. We didn’t usually actually have hot dog buns, so bread with the dog on the diagonal. Funny story. My mom and older sister were slightly chubby. They were nearby the Vienna factory on Fullerton (I think) and stopped in for a dog. There were apparently picnic tables in the back where you could enjoy your fare. the tables mustn’t have been wood, but probably metal. for some reason ….. both my mom and sister decided to sit next to each other at an empty table. they put their dogs down on the table, and then they sat down in not so ladylike a manner. hot dogs went flying into the air, as they both started laughing out loud. they always laughed when they told that story. everyone else did too, as the picture in our heads was just hilarious! Vienna places from my past: Man-jo-vins on Damen (big brother used to take me there). Hippo’s in schaumburg (big brother used to take me there), Jean & Judes on river road (still my favorite place for dogs, fries, and Pepsi)
I grew up in the Chicago area on Chicago dogs. For one, It’s hard to prove anything. The only way I can is for you to hear the growl of my stomach roaring with pure love of a Chicago dog. p.s Great contest your having. Whoever wins will enjoy it.
Had my first Vienna hot dog back in the 50’s at little eddies on the south side of Chicago. I was “hooked”. My wife used to babysit for dick portillo’s children back in the day. Every time I go to Chicago it’s either Portillo’s or Gene and Jude’s or Superdog! In AZ the trip for a Vienna dog the trip to cave creek at hot dignity dogs is well worth it. Vienna dogs or bust!
I am your number one fan! I started selling Vienna beef hot dogs at age 13 working in a carry-out spot in uptown on Wilson ave. By the age of 19, I rented a Hot dog stand on north Clark street to pay for my education. My front door was right at a #22 Clark street bus stop! For 30 years I have been food service career I’ve been carrying the Vienna beef “Chicago” style hot dog with me as a CHERISHED memory and awesome menu item! I’ve served these amazing dogs from my home in Chicago to southern Indiana (Evansville) and north east Wisconsin! I enjoy being put to the test by native Chicagoans and Vienna dogs never disappoint my guests! Currently I serve them at a golf course clubhouse that I manage in Neenah, WI. Our dogs kick a Wisconsin brats ass! I was off for nearly three years after loosing my right leg to an amputation. Getting back on my “feet” and returning to work selling your product was a tremendous part of my recovery and I enjoy sharing them with Wisconsin folks very much!
When I need a hot dog, I go for Vienna beef. When I need to train with hot dogs for the Nathan’s national contest to raise money to fight cancer, I go for Vienna beef. When I eat hot dogs in public at Chicago’s ‘The Weiner Circle’, I eat Vienna Beef. I was lucky enough to be able to buy hot dogs pre-opening of the above store because of the excellent customer service! I choose Vienna Beef hot dogs all day!
I live in Indiana and I always get a Vienna beef Chicago style hot dog when I’m in Chicago. My 4 year old daughter absolutely loves them too!
I can remember the good Ole days when I was just a little one in the streets of chicago……. My pops used to always take us down to eat on Maxwell street! Back then it was known by us as Maxwell street polishes. There was something about that aroma that hypnotized me and my siblings (grilled onions). To our advantage our parents decided to move away from the south side of chicago when I was just ten to escape hardships. This move left a gaping whole in my soul but allowed us more OPPORTUNITIES. Once we were old enough me and my siblings would take road road trips to Chicago. There was nothing like the reunion of family except maybe being able to taste those Vienna sausages & Italian beefs again. throughout the years as we make our return to Chicago our first stop was to Maxwell street. now that I’m older and I have my own family its not as easy to get on the road and relIve my childhood. I decided I would continue to spread the message of DELICIOUSNESS with my sons, so I opened up a Vienna dog cart! Now we are year round PREPARING Dogs for everyone we meet! Im the biggest fan because I have so many memories from my childhood and present days with Vienna beef! From the fire dog to the Italian gravy I am Vienna Beef’s biggest fan!
I serve my family only the best and Vienna Beef is the best; best for quality, value and taste.
