Barry Potekin opened the Original Gold Coast Dogs on State Street in 1985. Barry recovered from a devastating loss in the market and turned to the food industry to make a living. And oh what a great move it was for the hot dog business in Chicago! Before long Gold Coast topped the list of everyone's favorite Chicago restaurants. The current owners of Gold Coast have expanded the operation in four hot locations. Their 1/4 pound Vienna® Beef Chardog is an award winning sandwich for thousands of travelers into and out of Chicago.
