Vienna Beef Inducts Hot Doug’s into the Hot Dog Hall of Fame

Since the first year of the new millennium Hot Doug’s has been a great positive influence to the foodservice sausage business, both in Chicago and beyond. Although, Doug Sohn has chosen to close in October of 2014 his dedication, imagination and creativity have changed the way that people view sausage as an interesting quality food group. As Doug has stated since the beginning, “there are no two finer words in the English language than ‘encased meats’, my friend”.

Those words became a mission statement for Doug and have been just that for Vienna Beef since 1893. What Doug has done has reinvented ways to prepare sausage in addition to creating new and different ingredient combinations to challenge our taste buds. When notable television stars of the food nation like Anthony Bourdain and Mario Batali can wait up to two hours in line like everyone else to taste the bill of fare at Hot Doug’s, you know that the place has achieved a special kind of respected success.

Now its Vienna’s turn to perpetuate this iconic status and thank Doug for using Vienna Beef hot dogs and polish sausages as a base of his incredibly creative menu. We thank Doug and his loyal hard working staff, as we welcome Hot Doug’s into the hall of fame. Please accept our heartiest congratulations and best wishes in any and all future endeavors.
