Consider this the true European dinner hot dog. Made according to the same old-time recipe as our Vienna Beef dogs, but a bit milder and sweeter, these hickory-smoked knockwurst are great even without a bun. Try them with a side of sauerkraut and a stein of your favorite beverage.
Cheese-Filled Knockwurst Start with a premium Vienna Knockwurst. Slit and stuff with cheddar and Asiago cheese, then wrap it in bacon and bake (cheese side up) in a 350ºF oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve on a wheat roll with bright green relish, sliced green onions and mustard. Don’t forget the knife and fork!
